About

Bonjour!

Je m’appelle Mme Alfano, and I’m a teacher and improviser from Hamilton, Ontario. My journey as a French student started in Hamilton in Core French classes, and took me on adventures from as north as Chicoutimi, Quebec to as far as Paris, France as I lived, studied and worked to become bilingual.

When I returned to my hometown of Hamilton, it would have been time to apply for teaching jobs, but instead I chose to take a year of improv comedy and dance classes, both of which changed my life for the creative. These classes helped me to cultivate my growth mindset – something I am determined to guide my students to cultivate for themselves.

My goal with this blog is to share all of the wonderful exercises I have discovered on my journey as an improv student and performer, and to offer second language (particularly FSL) teachers a dynamic way to engage their students in authentic dialogue through improvisation. I am incredibly passionate about this work, and I hope you’ll find it helpful for your teaching.

Merci d’être venu!
